Today we met Nanny and Grandad at New Hall watermill, a 45 minute walk from our house. They were having an open day run by the Friends of New Hall Mill. Alfie loves water wheels so we thought it was worth a look. The children both loved it. Alfie was particularly thrilled by being allowed to have (several) goes at pulling the sack up on the sack hoist. He has always been fascinated by these at other mills but can’t normally have a go himself. Even Holly had a go lol! Alfie was entranced by the water wheel and all the moving machinery inside. He seems to have a real engineering interest like his Grandad.
There was a very reasonably priced little tearoom (Rich and I had the most enormous muffins lol!) and a vegetable garden to wander round. I’m really glad we went as everyone enjoyed it – and the walk was great exercise.
Back home I raced round getting my chores done with my little helper whilst Rich kept Holly amused. We changed the bed, cleaned the downstairs loo and shower, washed the rug with carpet shampoo then vacuumed it, changed our bed, sorted washing, emptied the dishwasher….Now I’m worn out and in need of a glass of wine and big sleep after a certain little lady kept me up most of last night……
