Journey into Unschooling

Tamworth Playroom

June 23rd, 2009 by becki

After a restless night, with several wakes and a burning temperature, Alfie seemed much improved this morning. I’m not entirely sure what’s up with him as he’s not got any snot whatsoever and is still eating. This morning he was great, so we headed to Tamworth Castle Playroom. The children enjoyed playing outside in the courtyard with the trikes, scooter, walkers, ride-ons, balls, giant Connect Four and various other toys. Then they headed inside the playroom to dive in the ball pit and play with the toys and books. Alfie did some sticking at the craft table, making a hat covered with glittery shapes and feathers. Both children then headed into the back room to do some painting, before more playing outside and in the ball pit. Alfie then had some toast and Holly a banana before we headed off. I was pretty impressed with the place, and Alfie claimed he “loved it” ;)

We walked through the castle grounds into Tamworth marketplace and picked up some lunch to take back into the park for a picnic before heading home as Holly was overdue a sleep.

Alfie seemed to go “off” during the afternoon, complaining of being very tired but refusing to nap. We did some chores (cleaning the kitchen, sorting washing, weeding, making bread), played out in the garden and watered his plants. He has a little pumpkin growing and harvested 3 more strawberries today. By 5pm Alfie was insisting on going to bed and ate no dinner at all. he got himself a dummy and headed up to his bed! We tried to keep him up as his 6pm bedtime last night led to a 6am wake up, but by 6.15 he was fast asleep. Another early morning methinks! Mind you, Holly’s normally up by 5am anyway!
