We had a great day today meeting Steve and Andy at Canons Ashby NT house. The weather stayed lovely for our picnic and wander round the beautiful gardens. Alfie enjoyed playing hide and seek with Uncle Steve in the hedges (and was telling me all about it whilst he was sat on the loo in Sainsburys having a pooh!). Holly enjoyed minutely inspecting the statue and listing all of it’s features (got hat, got no shoes, foot, leg etc….) There were some beautiful plants, and lots of grassy slopes for the children to roll down.

Holly didn’t go to sleep on the way down so was very tired, but managed to make it round the house after a breastfeed in the garden.

Alfie was describing (whilst still on the toilet in Sainsburys!) how much he loved the plastered ceilings with the pictures on.

After the house, we headed for a well deserved tea break. Holly decided to put her own suncream on!

We then went to look round the church before heading home as the children were becoming rather tired and manic! Why is it that when we’re tired we want to sit down quietly but kids go insane and run round smashing everything????

The journey back was very peaceful as Holly went to sleep and Alfie was as engaged in his Crayola Magic colouring as on the journey there. In fact, he didn’t want to get out of the car he was enjoying it so much! Two solid hours of complete engagement in one activity! We stopped off at Sainsburys to have some tea in the cafe (too late to start cooking at home and I’d earned £8 in luncheon vouchers doing online surveys lol!) then headed home. We struggled to settle either child after such a busy and exciting day!That’s never good when you are worn out yourself. I had to apologise to Alfie for being a grumpy Mommy! Holly has managed 4 straight hours in her own bed the last couple of days so we will see what tonight brings!

It was great to see Steve and Andy and catch up. Alfie proclaimed whilst I settled him in bed that he really likes Steve and Andy
