Journey into Unschooling

Bridgnorth

February 6th, 2010 by becki

A lovely family day out to Bridgnorth. Alfie had seen a cliff railway on Milkshake Monkey and was really interested so we looked them up on the internet – photos, diagrams of how they worked – and they entered into his play and conversation. Bridgnorth has the only remaining inland electrical funicular cliff railway so we headed there for some real life experience :) We’ve been to cliff railways with Alfie before but he was probably too small to remember much. I thought it was all going to go wrong as he started tantrumming that it was too scary but after realising that the carriage stayed flat and upright he was fine – if a little wary on the downward trip! Looking at the steep angle of the track he thought it was going to be some scary rollercoaster ride lol ;) H ran straight on!

Down in Low Town we fed the ducks and geese on the river, befor eheading back up on the cliff railway – Alfie a lot happier this time :) We walked to the castle grounds, ate our picnic, had a wander round, walked back into town for a coffee and to get some fruit off the market then back home :)

The photos were on A’s camera so not great quality – but the castle really does lean like that, it’s not a wonky picture lol!
